The woven Babyroyale blanket, is a soft though weighty pram-sized blanket ideal for use in a pushchair. The soft weave will not irritate the delicate skin of a baby and the fabric will keep them at a comfortable temperature during the summer months.
The fabric is strong and does not snag. It washes best on cold or low 30 degree temperatures with no fabric conditioner.
The good point of this blanket is that it makes a good covering for a baby or toddler whilst out in the pram. The fabric is light in colour and seems to keep both the wind and sun off of a baby without them overheating or getting cold.
But we did find two distinct issues that must affect the way it is used with young babies.
Firstly, the blanket is a thicker weave than more traditional knitted-by-grannies blankets. This means that there are no air holes should a baby pull the blanket over their face. We found it harder to breathe through this blanket pulled over the face than a knitted blanket. Also, due to the tight weave and weightiness, it would be harder for a baby to pull back away from their face.
Secondly, the blanket fringe pulls out. Loose pile on toys and clothes are not generally recommended on children younger than three years of age due to the potential choking hazard they pose.
Best of all…
It’s good for maintaining a constant warm temperature outdoors.
Could improve…
The fringe on the blanket needs to go.
Basically…
A good pram blanket for a toddler who won’t suck the fringe.
