Southville parents and children face school place admission crisis

The Bristol school admissions fiasco continues for another year, with families in South Bristol unable to get local school places.

The Southville area of the city is being hit the hardest, with many parents not being offered one of their three choices or even a local alternative.

Some parents have been offered places at schools as far away as Knowle West – a different postcode area and upwards of 2.5 miles from their home.

Affected parents have formed a website to bring attention to the lack of school places in the area, poor provision planning and to campaign for a resolution before the start of the 2011/12 academic year.
