Free electric blanket safety checks

Residents in Bristol are being offered free electric blanket tests to cut down on the number of fatalities the devices cause.

According to a recent survey by Bristol City Council, more than 30 per cent of electric blankets in use had life threatening faults.

New designs on the market can also be dangerous if they are misused.

National statistics show that 95 per cent of electric blanket fires are caused by blankets more than 13 years old.
