Mothers worth £37,000 per annum for their 70 hour week

The amount of time mothers spend working on housework and family activities has been totted up to more than 70 hours a week at a £37,000 salary.

According to research of 3,000 mothers by Three, 33 per cent get less than six hours of sleep per night because they are so busy.

During their working day, they are spending around 69 minutes cleaning the house, 69 minutes cooking, 63 minutes tidying and 42 minutes washing dishes.

The busy routine extends into school runs, taxi service and homework help.

Just 16 per cent said they were happy with the way things were.
