Teens going into full time education may still qualify for child benefit
Parents whose teenagers are continuing in full time post-16 education should inform HMRC to ensure they continue to receive child benefit.
Parents with a teenager approaching 16 should let HMRC know if they are continuing in full time education so they continue to receive child benefit.
Children who stay on full-time are still eligible for child benefit and parents should inform HMRC before 30 August to make sure the benefit doesn’t stop.
Parents can also make the necessary changes online at www.hmrc.gov.uk/childbenefit/change-circs.htm or by phoning the Child Benefit Helpline on 0845 302 1444.
