New babies kick start parents’ healthy living
Having a baby kick starts new parents into adopting a healthier lifestyle.
According to a study of 2,000 UK parents, 63 per cent claim their lifestyle improved when their baby was born.
A total of 46 per cent of mums and dads did more exercise and 65 per cent watched what they ate.
Tina Clare at Engage Mutual, which commissioned the study, said: “The research suggests that having children can be the trigger for many adults to take their health and fitness more seriously.
“It is often the point at which they start to re-evaluate what is important, and health goes to the top of that list.
“New mums and dads realise that with parenthood comes responsibility –and looking after their children’s best interests goes hand in hand with looking after themselves.”
