This Month: October 2011
We can’t believe it’s October either. Where did the year go? And why is the winter rolling in on the back of heatwave!
This month we have advice for parents applying for primary school places, we put Aldi products to the test and all of our usual news, competitions and Chopsy content.
This month’s front cover star is Puss. Otherwise known as: Mothercare Cuddly Toy Dog in Cream – Small
Sasha Goodridge from Bristol writes: ‘I have been reading your website since I saw it advertised around Bristol. But what does Chopsy actually mean?’
Chopsy Baby Says: Hi Sasha, Actually it is a question we get asked lots. It’s an informal word used to describe cheekiness and well, chopsiness without boarding too much into rudeness. We feel it suits our editorial style and is in keeping with our non-gender bias and attempt to keep parenting from being mumcentric and pastel coloured.

A new survey from sterilising and hygiene experts, Milton, has found that more than 52 per cent of all mobile phone users have sent a text to friends and family whilst they are sitting on the loo! And what raises the ‘ick factor’ even further is that 56 per cent of us never clean our mobiles!
Have you started preparing for Christmas yet?
“Yes. I have four kids so I prepare for Christmas all year round. When I see bits I know they will like I grab them and put them back. I can’t do it all at the end of the year otherwise.”
Amy Belmont
Bedminster
“Yes. I start in the post Christmas sale from the year before. That’s when I get next year’s Christmas cards and wrapping and decorations. I don’t really start on presents until about mid October though.”
Jemma Dunfry
Bishopston
“Not at all. I get really bad tempered when I see Christmas stock go out in shops at the end of August. I hate that pressure to spend the money. I think we are becoming too greedy and a slave to TV advertising.”
Christine Melford

Mother of three, Karen Giddings said: “This smelt so amazing, I actually tried a lick of it. It’s so fruity and fresh. It didn’t taste like it smelt though so don’t drink it! It was great in the bath. I even lit some candles I was given for Christmas years ago. Bubbly and soothing. I’m hooked.”
