London children net £5.10 per tooth from fairy
London children are getting a great deal from the Tooth Fairy, with an average payout of £5.10 per tooth.
Children in Cambridge come second in the rankings netting £5.00 per baby tooth and Cardiff youngsters third with £4.75.
Perhaps children in Hull need to negotiate a better deal, getting only 5 pence per tooth.
Portsmouth and York Tooth Fairies only pay out a marginally better 10 pence.
More than 2,000 UK parents with children aged between four and twelve years were polled by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk.
Of these, 61 per cent still played the Tooth Fairy game.
But 32 per cent of those who did not said it was because they could no longer afford to fund the fantasy.
Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, Mark Pearson said: “It seems as though even the Tooth Fairy is feeling the pinch when it comes to certain areas and handing over her cash in exchange for teeth. However, perhaps she tends to visit certain towns and cities before others, meaning she has less money left towards the end of her journey.
“It was a surprise to see some children get as much as £5 per tooth; that works out to be around £100 by the time they’ve lost all their milk teeth; quite a good amount they put the money by for a rainy day.”
