Family spending cut as living costs soar

Families are having to make savage cut backs in their spending as the average monthly income has risen just £46 this year, but energy bills, food, motoring and public transport costs have all soared.

To meet shortfalls, the research by Aviva finds that holidays and recreational spending has dropped and 52 per cent of families are spending nothing on children’s activities.
