Chopsy Baby is reviewing… The Disney Princess Magic Wand Game
The ubiquitous Disness Princesses are impossible to avoid. At some point in their childhood, through choice or by gift, all girls will own something Disney Princess. This may strike horror into the heart of feminist parents but are the princesses really that bad?
They may not be every parents’ cup of tea, but as part of well balanced play, they are not really going to do any harm.
The Disney Princess Magic Wand Game from Jumbo features the fab four – Belle, Cinders, Snowy and Sleepy. Played by between two and four players, the princesses have to work their way around the board to win entry to the magic castle.
With this game, players follow instructions by waving a magic wand. This is actually pretty cool. Players can fall foul of baddies on squares and have their way hampered or progressed by moving footpaths.
The game is well thought out and well made. It’s easy to assemble, though check young players don’t bend the Magic Castle when they put it together. The board and the princesses themselves are sturdy and strong – as long as they are put away carefully after play.
The game takes around twenty minutes to play, though this can vary upwards according to ages and abilities.
The box says the game is suitable for children age three years upwards, but the game can be quite tricky with some of its rules and better suited to five years.
Begrudginly, coming from non-fans of the Disney Princesses, it has to be said that the game is pretty good. It is fun, looks good and there is no reason why boys cannot join in game play with the sister it will be purchased for.
Chopsy Baby invited four-year-olds Harry, Jake, Ellie and five-year-old Bethan to play the Magic Wand Game.
Harry said: “I didn’t want to play it at first as it is pink for girls. I liked the talking wand.”
Jake said: “I didn’t want to play it but it’s good where the castle comes out the board.”
Bethan said: “I liked the talking wand and Belle is my favourite. I want to play this lots of days.”
Ellie said: I love the princesses. I watch the films all the time. Belle is my favourite too. I played with her card today.”
