Plastic and Tetra Pak kerbside recycling starts in Bristol today
Finally, Bristol will be getting plastic and Tetra Pak kerbside Recycling services this year.
Around 20,000 green recycling boxes will be delivered to Bristol residents from today.
This will mark the first phase with a further 13,000 homes receiving their green box from 06 February.
Once residents have received their green box, their 240 litre wheelie bin will be swapped for a new smaller 180 litre.
All homes in the city should received their green box and new bin by the end of June 2012.
Cabinet member for strategic waste, Councillor Gary Hopkins, said: “When we set out to deliver this contract, we knew the number one thing residents wanted was for their plastics and Tetra Paks to be collected at the kerbside and we’ve worked hard to be able to deliver this, while at the same time managing to save around £2.5 million a year of tax payers’ money with a much more efficient and cost effective service.”
