Chopsy Baby is Reviewing… The Miracle Ball Method for Pregnancy
Chopsy Baby Says: Really worth a go for those with back pain
Rating: 8/10
What is it?
The Miracle Ball Method for Pregnancy is a kit comprising of two toddler sized slightly deflated footballs and a book. The method has been devised by Elaine Petrone. It comprises a low-impact non invasive series of ‘un-exercises’ for pre and postnatal mothers.
Users of the method rest on the two balls, use a breathing technique and excersies illustrated. There are sections for particular problem pain areas such as back, neck and legs.
Rather than building muscle tone, the method is designed to reduce tension in muscles and improve bodily alignment issues. The excess tension can come from stress, injury, poor posture or scoliosis.
Once the muscle tone issue has been addressed. The body should have more freedom of movement.

On the first glance of this package, nothing impressive springs out. A small book and two squishy air filled balls do not look like a way to beat pain or feel good about the aches and creaks of a pregnant body.
But Chopsy Baby’s Jen Smith says: “Somehow, this method actually works. I’m not sure how, but just five minutes a day doing the most minimum of movement with the two balls under my back has reduced the severity of pain I get massively.
“I had an accident when I was a child, hurting my back and experiencing severe lower back pain every day of my life since. Nothing touches it, not even the strongest of painkillers.
“But somehow the balls have helped when nothing else has. It doesn’t last all day and it is necessary to spend some time on the balls everyday. This can be hard when you are a busy parent, but it is worth it.
“To be honest, I got a little bored with the book. This is not a reflection on the book itself, rather I am just the kind of person who gets bored within seconds of instructions and just gets on with it.
“If you have severe enough pain to try this method out, it is worth checking with your GP or pain management specialist first though.”
