Bristol water baby has eye on Olympic medal

A Bristol water baby has set her sights on becoming the next Rebecca Adlington as she continues to excel in swimming.

Six year old Poppy has been to swimming lessons with Water Babies Since she was eight weeks old.

Now she has moved on to her local swimming club and can already swim 100 meters unaided.

Poppy now has her eye on GB swimmer Rebecca Adlington, keen to emulate her success as she works at completing her own ASA Level Five Certificate.

Poppys mother Nicola believes it is important for children to be active saying: “Poppy has always loved being in the water since day one and now hates the idea of missing the chance to get in the pool.

“Obesity in young children is scary. Children naturally enjoy being active, running around outside and exploring. I think it is important that they understand that getting out there and using their energy is a positive thing to do and it sets them up for a healthy life!”
