Children happy for a law enforcing cycle helmets

Children would be happy for a law enforcing the use of cycle helmets, research finds.

According to findings from the Brain Injury Group and Active Sport, 69 per cent of children aged from 11 to 16 years would prefer a law dictating that everyone had to wear one.

Currently, only 34 per cent of the children said they always wore one and 30 per cent never wore on at all.

Lisa Turan of the Children Brain Injury Trust said: “It still baffles me why so many youngsters resist wearing a helmet while cycling or skiing: they clearly don’t realise how a split-second impact could result in a life-changing brain injury that could render them incapacitated, disabled or worse.”
