8 per cent of dads don’t fancy mum after childbirth. Cheers for that.

Forget this week’s villain Gina Ford, who is being crucified by parents for expecting mothers to put out soon after birth.

According to findings by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, some new dads actually said they no longer fancied their partner after they had given birth anyway.

According to a study of 1,183 UK fathers, just 8 per cent said they found their partner less attractive after the birth of their first child.

A 34 per cent of these said it was because their partner hadn’t lost the baby weight and 21 per cent said their partner had ‘stopped caring’ about her appearance.

Only 2 per cent of men said it was due to witnessing a difficult birth.

But men don’t make their feelings known to their partner, with 85 per cent keeping quiet about their changed feelings.

Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk said the following about the findings: “I was surprised to see that a tenth of men admit to finding their partner less attractive after the birth of their first child. Whilst pregnancy and childbirth do undoubtedly affect a woman, it’s important that these changes aren’t seen as negative by men, as any changes are all part of the process of becoming a parent and things should get back to normal after childbirth. I was even more surprised to see that such a small percentage of the men have told their spouse; whilst it could be upsetting , if it’s having an effect on a relationship, feelings like this are something that a couple should sensitively discuss with an aim of rectifying.”
