This Month: April 2012
It’s April. And this means the children are home, cupboards will be bulging with chocolate, parents at work will have headaches from sorting child care and it will take an average of 1.32 days before youngsters complain they are bored.
This Month’s cover star is: Easter Bunny
Chloe from Bath writes: “I have no idea how to entertain my child through the holidays. I’m bored with all the usual things. Keeley is seven. Any ideas?”
Chopsy Baby Says: “Good luck. Parents and carers across the country are asking the same question. Please, not to the park with the mouldy ducks again they beg. How about um… setting up an eBay business with your youngster? It’s never too early to teach business skills. Teach her how to sell off and market old toys, posting, packing and banking.”

Puddle Ducks offers really high quality swimming lessons for children from birth right through to their school aged academy.

Chopsy Baby loves the work of Matthew Bourne so much we thought we would run with it again. The super choreographer’s Nutcracker will be at the Bristol Hippodrome in April and tickets are available to book now. Featuring Tchaikovsky’s wonderful music and Bourne’s usual magical touch, this is likely to be the best ballet visiting Bristol this year.

How easily did you find childcare to cover the Easter holidays
“Fine. I have been using the same childminder for years, but it is very expensive for school holidays.”
Jan Dixey
Mother of a seven year old
“Not great. I have had to rely on family and friends to look after my four year old, but I have a two year old in nursery anyway.”
Sofe Dwight
Mother of a four year old and two year old
“Really hard actually. Emma is at a nursery school in term, but in the holidays I have to try and find a childminder. It costs a fortune.”
Dawnnie Livingstone
Mother of a three year old

Liverpool indie band Space, are back gigging in their beautiful neighbourhood this month. Listen to their 1996 hit album Spiders, and remember how good they are.
