Don’t mistake this book as for beginners only. Even seasoned bloggers can take something of great use away from this book. In the main, it is a step-by-step guide. It goes through basic skills and how to set up a blog, with practically no IT skills necessary. For those who have already started, there are simple guides to grammar, how to structure a blog and write posts well.

The book mainly advocates the use of WordPress for the blogging software. This is probably the best software for being able to publish quickly, simply and stylishly online.

There are useful sections including writing a blog and the law. This is perfect for those people who think copying is the most sincerest form of flattery. Actually it isn’t. It’s called copyright theft.

Social media is covered, the how, why and importance alongside other simple and free ways to promote a blog.

The final chapter – what most be many blogger’s ultimate goal – is how to go about making money from their blog.

Antonia Chitty is very good at creating books that are simple and accessible, but without being condescending. They provide plenty of useful and relevant information that can be read quickly and referred to easily. This one is no exception. This Essential Guide is exactly that. What everyone who writes a blog needs to know.
