Following a healthy calorie controlled diet during pregnancy is safe, researchers say

Following a calorie controlled diet during pregnancy is safe to do, new medical research reveals today.

Published on the British Medical Journal website, researchers from university of London looked into potential adverse effects dieting during pregnancy could have on mother and baby.

Their findings showed that all pregnant women, including those who are overweight and obese were safe to follow a ‘healthy’ calorie controlled diet.

This would even reduce the risk of serious complications such as pre-eclampsia, diabetes and premature birth.

More than 50 per cent of women in the UK of reproductive age fall into the overweight or obese category.
