Pamper your pet this April

It’s National Pet Month (NPM) from 4th April until 4th of May 2009. Pets play a big part in everyday family life and this year pet owners are going to be encouraged to attend a whole host of events across the nation.

This year’s theme is ‘Healthy pets make happy pets’ giving pet owners an opportunity to take some time out and focus on the family friend.

There will also be the opportunity to enter your pet into the National Pet Month Photographic Competition.

Chairman of NPM Phil Sketchley said:  “With so many pets in the UK facing health problems, we want next April’s ‘Healthy Pets Make Happy Pets’ theme to enable pet owners not only to detect signs of ill health in their animals, but give them guidance on how they can help maximize their companion’s well being.

“The government’s recently launched Change4Life initiative, challenges human nutrition and health, and we want to do the same for animals. With the help of major sponsors such as Iams and for the first time in 2009, Pfizer Animal Health, I’m sure we can encourage responsible pet ownership amongst an even wider audience.”
