Parents put themselves under pressure to buy teens top brand gadgets
It’s not just children under pressure to buy big budget tech brands for the new school term. Parents already feeling the pinch are so concerned about their older kids fitting in, they are willing to get into debt for the ‘right’ gadget.
Around 26 per cent of parents said they felt pressure to buy the latest smart phone for their teen and one in five pulled out for brand new laptops.
The findings, taken from a survey of 2,000 parents by VoucherCodes.co.uk, also revealed 9 per cent of parents would be paying more than £300 for an iPad.
Co-founder of VoucherCodes.co.uk, Duncan Jennings says: “Secondary school can be a particularly tough time for children and parents naturally wants to make sure their kids are happy and fit in with their peers. However, it’s interesting to see that it’s not just children who believe that brands will help them fit in – a large portion of parents do too.”
