Chopsy Baby is Reviewing: The Rocket Complete Skateboard Mini Robot Winston skateboard for children
A skateboard is the king of Cool, to primary school children. It’s also a social sport which encourages balance, control, fun and a designated space in the A and E car park.
But with full body protection for the head, elbows, knees, shins and a double layer of bubble wrap, it’s a great way to encourage children to have fun and stay active.
At Chopsy Baby, we have been road-testing – well pavement testing – the Rocket Complete Mini skateboard suitable for ages 5-12 years.
It’s a good sturdy beginners skateboard made with 9-ply Maple deck and shock absorbing risers. The wheels are 52mm 90A PolyUrethane and ours features a Robot graphic.
The top of the board offers a good black grip and its width is suitable for children’s feet not adults. This is not a tacky plastic toy, but a proper skateboard with all the necessary features scaled down for younger children.

As a young child, I was incredibly jealous I wasn’t allowed a skateboard of my own. My cousin the same age had one, but my mum thought they were far too dangerous.
To a certain extent she was right. A university friend of mine had a teen brother who died when a skateboard stunt when wrong. He didn’t fall far, but hard enough to make the head injury fatal.
For this reason, it is vital that children have the same level of safety wear they would need for a bike. A helmet is an absolute minimum and a definite must.
As a parent, it is important to maintain perspective, and yes, while a skateboard has the potential for injury, it also has the potential for great fun.
I tested this skateboard out with my own two children. One is five years old, the other two years old. They both loved it and I was incredibly surprised how easy the two year old found it.

With children moaning about the trudge to school and Christmas on the way, a skateboard can be a great way to motivate them out of the house and along the pavement.
The Rocket complete mini is fantastic for children and just a little bit cooler than a scooter.
