Chopsy Baby is Reviewing… Books for Early Readers this Christmas
Horrid Henry’s Christmas Presents
Francesca Simon and Tony Ross
Horrid Henry is, well, absolutely horrid. There are no redeeming features to him in this story and certainly no comeuppance. But some children love the stories, and this Early Reader will suit the brave families who allow their children to watch this programme.

Look At Me
Francesca Simon and Emily Bolam
For those families who prefer their Christmases a little less Christ orientated and more Winter Festival, this Early Reader is a perfect end of year book.
Honey the puppy, learns to get to grips with skating on the frozen pond. Fab illustrations and comprehension questions at the end.

A Palace Full of Princesses
Sally Gardener
OK, so this book is pink and features the word princess, but actually it pretty good. It contains the stories The Frog Prince, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. The versions of the story are perfect for children aged around five years upwards. They are very happy-ever-after and mainly end with girl rescued by man which would make feminists weep. But at this age, they are probably not ready for the often dark and bloody thirsty original versions of the stories.
