PFB babies are taken to the doctor around 16 times during their first year
Panicking parents are taking their precious first born to see their GP an average of 16 times during the first year.
The top three causes Beneden Health found for new parents to rush to the doctor included a rash, high temperature or a cough.
One in three mums took their baby to the doctor for the common cold and one in ten rushed in with an unconscious baby – only to be told it was only asleep.
Mums admitted that it wasn’t until their child was past the age of three that they felt able to worry slightly less.
Spokesperson for Benenden Health, Jean Scott of said: “What these results really show is that it is common for first-time mums to be concerned about their child’s health and that most new parents experience this heightened level of anxiety.
”Worry is an unavoidable aspect of motherhood, however it is important to find the right balance between an acceptable level of worry that ensures your baby stays healthy whilst being able to enjoy the experience of being a new mum – even if this is often easier said than done.”
