Think tank for children and the environment
Children will soon be able to tell the government their opinions and concerns relating to the environment.
Open to all children in the UK, 20 kids are needed to become part of the UK’s first environmental think tank for 7 – 14 year olds.
The think tank called ‘Our Planet, Our Say’ and part of British Gas’s Generation Green schools programme, will give children a say on the problems of climate change.
Developing the think tank resulted from research undertaken for the Generation Green programme, which shows children want their voices to he beard on climate change.
In polls, 74 per cent of UK children think adults are not doing enough to protect the environment, with 49 per cent thinking they can make a difference to the cause.
Children aged between 7 and 14 can nominate themselves, or be nominated by others.
To enter, the children will have to write 100 words explaining why they deserve to be part of the think tank.
