Review: Ella’s Kitchen: The Big Baking Book – The Yellow One – in hardback
It’s a beautiful big book full of lovely recipes and brought to you by organic baby food specialist Ella’s Kitchen.
To inspire families and children to eat well, it’s an inspirational cook book you need. This book has inspiration by the page load.
From the attractive layout and presentation of the recipes to the tasty and practical menus it includes, this book is perfect to set young children on the life-long path of eating well.
It also manages to engage younger cooks with its eye catching design and layout and of course the activities inside.
Josie Louise Denby reviewed the book with her twin sons three year old James and Thomas and five year old Mollie.
Josie Says: “I used to love home baking. When my children were babies I only used baby jars and packets in emergency situations and tried to keep everything as fresh and unprocessed as possible.
“Since going back to work a year ago, I admit finding it much harder to keep on top of healthy eating. Actually, the lunch box prep in the morning is just about the last straw.
“But this ace cook book has kind of helped me find my way back to my non-pretentious foodie path again.
“The recipes are tasty and it makes a huge difference from processed food we have become a little used to.
“I’ve been inspired to step away from the white bread sandwiches for packed lunch and make our own buns. There are ingredients that you probably won’t have in your cupboard straight away, such as dried yeast or ground mixed spice. But I guess once you have them, you can use them again and slowly build up your cooking collection.
“It does mean some organisation like making the buns up the night before. I do try involving all the children as I remember how much I enjoyed making jam tarts with my mum. The weather has been a little too hot to restrain them in the kitchen. But thinking of the winter and the gorgeous smell of home made buns and muffins or tartlets is really exciting.”
