Controversial video supported by teens

It seems that teenagers are coming out in support of the controversial NHS video depicting a schoolgirl giving birth.

They believe that the campaign has really hit its target market, who should be reached through social networking, the internet and text.

Hey Babe, the organisation that advised NHS Leicester on the video, emphasized the importance of understanding the best ways to communicate with teenagers.

From Hey Babe, Liz Rodrigo said: “We were not trying to upset people…we looked very hard at how young people receive messages and what they wanted to receive, the internet was key…they said they were looking for something shocking or something fun and then they would forward it onto their friends”

The video sparked huge debate in Southwark. The borough has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in Western Europe.

South City Radio hosted a series of broadcasts on the topic. Some of the shockingly ill informed points raised by the listeners and programme panel will be passed onto Children’s Minister Beverly Hughs MP.
