Parents are letting their under age children drive themselves around alone

Casual attitudes to under age driving seem to be increasing in the UK, with 35 per cent of parents admitting to illegally letting their child drive a car before they are 17.

The majority of these parents waited until their child was 16 years of age. But three per cent allowed their 9 year old to drive their car.

If you think this is all done from the safety of private land you would be completely wrong.

A total of 59 per cent let their under age children drive on public roads with 23 per cent not even being in the car with them.

More than 2000 parents with children took part in the poll by VoucherCodesPro.co.uk.

Spokesperson George Charles, said: “I have to say that I am absolutely shocked and quite frankly scared at the results of the recent research. I know that some may let their children drive around in private land, but there is no excuse or justification to let your children drive underage on the actual roads…Especially if you aren’t even in the car!”
