Keep kids safe on holiday

A recent survey found that one in four parents are less concerned about their child’s safety whilst on holiday.

Independent travel agent www.sunshine.co.uk offer these useful tips on how to keep your kids safe and enjoy your break.

1 – Choose a family friendly resort – they will have clubs for the children to keep them entertained whilst parents relax. However, always check that the staff have passed the countries equivalent of CRB checks

2 – Always have a pre-arranged meeting spot in case the children get lost

3 – Be aware that there aren’t always lifeguards at resort pools so if you do let your child go to the pool alone, ensure there is someone watching over them

4 – Teach your children about the dangers of talking to strangers, both at home and on holiday and encourage them to be vocal if somebody is making them feel uncomfortable

5 – Buy a pair of bungee clips to prevent your child from wandering off, especially in busy crowds

6 – Baby monitoring systems may not work as well on overseas electricity, so always check this before you go. Ensure you do not just rely on these

7 – Teach your children their own name, in full, and make sure they do not only know you as mummy and daddy

8 – When possible, put the hotel contact details and your contact details into your child’s rucksack in case they get lost

9 – Make sure that your children always stick together when they go out to play

10 – Be cautious but make sure you and your family enjoy your holiday!
