Parents are Letting Infant School Children Make Tea, Coffee and Bleach the Toilet
Clearly we’re missing a trick at Chopsy Baby, with stats from Hillarys showing UK parents with children as young as 7 years of age are already making mums cups of tea.
The home interior business polled 2198 parents to find out more about the chores that children were entrusted with.
According to their findings, youngsters as young as five were already using cleaning products such as toilet cleaner and surface sprays.
Unsupervised children aged just seven years were making tea or coffee with boiling water. And, families that actually own irons had children as young as ten pressing out creases.
A gender divide was also identified, with results showing that girls are more likely to vac carpets and do the laundry, whilst boys are cleaning the family car.
A 74 per cent of parents believed that encouraging their children to do these chores at such a young age taught them vital life skills. Only 7 per cent of those taking part said they felt these household jobs were suitable for adults only.
