SPF50+ towel for toddlers by Cuddledry

The first toddler towel protecting delicate skin from the sun is to launch this summer.

The team behind the Cuddledry towel, have created a sea creature inspired SPF50+ Poncho Towel, using Rayosan technology.

This means that the fabric will deflect the harmful UVA and UVB rays instead of letting them pass through the fibres.

Co-founder of Cuddledry, Helen Wooldridge explains: “This remarkable technology comes from Australia, where extensive research has been done on the dangers of skin cancer. Given the forecast
for a hot summer this year and climbing annual temperatures, we wanted to bring the same protection to the UK.”

“We looked to the sea for our inspiration. Hammerhead sharks are one of the few animals that can catch a tan from sunlight – they could do with one of our towels! Angelfish on the other hand are able to reflect almost 100% of sunlight falling on their mirror-like scales, just as effective as our ponchos.”

The towels are suitable for toddlers aged one to two years, and have poppers under the arms holding the towel in place. This makes them perfect for tots drying off after splashing around in the sea, especially when you can’t feel the sun burn skin due to fresh sea brezes.

The Cuddledry brand has gone from strength to strength after turning down investment offers on TV’s The Dragon’s Den just two years ago. Mums Polly Marsh and Helen Wooldridge, created the original Organic Cuddledry bath towel to help parents dry slippery babies after bathtime. The unique design means the towel is worn as an apron, giving parents two hands to pick up the baby, and dry them close to their own body.

The new sun safe towels can be purchased from www.cuddledry.com at the end of July 2009 and cost £22.99
