Sign up to The Bristol Sleep Out 2018 to support Big Issue vendors
Bristol residents are being urged to sign up for a special fundraising event to support homeless organisations in the city.
The Bristol Sleep Out, will be raising funds for The Big Issue Foundation, which helps rough sleepers to get off the streets with both short and long term methods.
The Bristol Homeless Forum, is organising the event, which will take place in the grounds of Central Bristol church Pip’n’Jay on the final night of Homeless Awareness Week.
Last year, over 150 people took part, managing to raise £60,000. As well as raising the money, the event will highlight the reality of being a street sleeper in the city.
Bristolians cannot fail to have noticed the huge number of street homeless in Broadmead, especially in the busy run up to Christmas.
Homeless Awareness Week, which runs from 24 February – 03 March 2018, aims to make everyone aware of the realities homelessness and the issues facing rough sleepers.
CEO of The Big Issue Foundation, Stephen Robertson said: “Big Issue vendors face the realities of poverty, exclusion and homelessness on a daily basis. The Bristol sleep out will raise vital funds to support our work to help change more lives for good.
“Please do join us on the night in the knowledge that each and every participant will be playing a part in creating positive social change and hope for the future.”
The fundraising nighttime event is taking place on Friday 02 March 2018.
