Bristol Tower Blocks Fire Risk After Dry Riser Thefts
Bristol Tower Blocks Fire Risk: Lives are being left at risk after a pair of men targeted Bristol tower blocks to steal brass fittings from dry risers.
Dry risers are essential for getting water to higher levels of buildings in the event of a fire.
Eleven blocks of flats have been hit by the two men who have stolen the brass fittings to sell.
“These thieves are putting people’s lives at risk for the sake of small amounts of money,” Councillor Paul Smith, Cabinet Member for Homes and Communities said.
“We would urgently request that residents immediately report any suspicious activity within their tower block to the police by calling 101 or online at https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact-us/report-a-crime-or-incident/
“We are working to replace the stolen valves as a matter of urgency and we are also taking action, including security patrols, to prevent further thefts in all other blocks in the city.”
Police are asking for help to trace the men pictured at Oak House on April 22, Willow House on April 24 and Gilton House on April 28.
Police Say: ‘If you recognise either of the men or have any information please call 101 and quote reference 5218088038’.
