Ticket Buyers Infuriated by Additional Hidden Booking Charges

If you regularly buy tickets, you already know that there is an abundance of booking fees, postage fees and sometimes a restoration levy that pops up when you have added dates to the online basket.

According to research by BOXT, people in the UK are paying an average of £416 each year in additional or hidden charges.

The extra charges were found to be sneaked onto gig tickets, travel bookings as well as transactions made abroad.

An average of £22 was paid on top of event tickets and £30 on hotel bookings each year.

An irritated four out of ten people cancelled a booking because of additional charges and 67 per cent said they shouldn’t be added on at the end of a booking process.

Ultimately the sellers are losing out on sales, with three quarters saying they were ‘less likely’ to buy a product or service again if they find hidden or additional charges tacked on whilst booking or buying.
