Warren Bay Holiday Village in Watchet

Warren Bay Holiday Village in Watchet (no relation to the previously reviewed camp site) overlooks its own beach from a stunning cliff top location.

The beauty of the touring section  is that no booking is necessary. There will always be room in the seven acre field.

Though located on the top of a cliff, parents worrying about children should be reassured that there is a fence and dense bush to get though before one would take a tumble over the edge. We took a fast and adventurous two-year-old, whose antics make Indiana Jones’s stunts pale in comparison. We didn’t have any problems with the cliff other than chasing the child up and down the hill that touring section is spread over.

The camp site has its own shop, well priced swimming and toddler pool at just 50 pence per person and a good toilet block.

The site is in a fabulous location for family holidaying. It has its own direct access onto Warren Bay beach. Families can spend hours exploring the many rock pools or hunting for fossils on a beach marked out as of special scientific interest.

By checking the tide times, it is possible to walk along to the sandy Blue Anchor Bay or Watchet Harbour. If you have a pram it’s also possible to safely walk to Watchet by public footpath next to the West Somerset Railway Line, with regular steam trains passing by.

Touring prices are £11 for a car, tent and up to two people. Electricity is £2.50, but this is not available all over the field.

Chopsy Baby recommends Warren Bay Holiday Village for families who need to be flexible. Turn up and pay as you go basic camping is perfect if you don’t know how long you want to stay for and don’t want to commit. The beach, which is very muddy in places, is perfect for exploring rock pools and hunting for fossils. The site is also perfectly located on the outskirts of some of the South West’s best tourist gems. In the local area is Minehead, Butlins, The West Somerset Railway, Dunster Castle, the Tropiquaria, Porlock Harbour amongst so much more. The touring section is quite hilly, but we pitched a Vango tent on a slope with no problems at all. This is a good, basic camp site in a stunning location. We highly recommend it.
