Back to school: Improve toddler and child safety with the Baglite
Despite continuing attempts by local councils to encourage exercise and environmentally friendly ways of getting around, mums are still not convinced.
In a survey by Cycling England last year, it was revealed that 8 out of 10 parents ban their children from cycling alone. Their worries are not entirely unfounded.
Though cycling is a fun activity with eco-friendly benefits, statistically, it is getting more dangerous.
A massive 75 per cent of cycling accidents happen at road junctions when cyclists become victims of bad visibility.
With the start of the new academic year next week, it won’t be long until the mornings and the evenings get darker, increasing problems even further.
As a solution to child safety on the roads, Chopsy Baby tested out the Baglite.

The Baglite is an environmentally friendly, battery-free, solar powered harness. It is designed to be worn around the shoulders or over a back pack.
The product claims to clearly illuminate cyclists and their bags from up to 1km away and at all angles. This would go some way to help cyclists’ visibility at junctions.
The harness is lightweight, weighing approximately 200gms, but still feels strong and durable.
It has two lights on the front part of the harness and one red light on the centre back.
The harness takes its charge from light and has a charge mode. If left in daylight on a windowsill or even at a slower pace in artificial light, the harness will charge up and hold its charge well.
The lights have either a flashing mode or a static mode and are operated from one of the front sections of the harness.
No instructions came with our product so it took us a little time to work out how to fit the Baglite to a backpack. The product fits well around backpacks for both adult and child sizes. It is not specifically designed to be worn as a harness, but will function as one without a bag. When trying to fit it as a harness to both an adult and child, without guidance we did struggle to work out which Velcro strap to attach where.
As a solution to cyclists’ safety on the roads, this is an excellent one. Chopsy Baby thinks it is far more useful than just a safety aid to cyclists. This product will benefit all types of lifestyles.
