We The Curious Remains closed Due To Fire into 2023

  • The Fire that broke out on the roof during April this year means We The Curious remains closed into 2023

It’s more bad news from We The Curious. The popular Bristol science attraction won’t be open until January 2023 at the earliest after a fire broke out at the venue earlier this year.

The much-loved science centre had to close their doors unexpectedly after a fire started on the roof on Saturday 09 April 2022.

The fire was caused by damage to the photovoltaic solar panels – which has been attributed to birds. This caused a fault in the electrical system resulting in a roof fire.

The water damage as a result of putting out the fire has caused ‘extensive’ damage in the building systems, with the heating and cooling systems now needing to be replaced.

‘It means that we now know that we won’t be open before January 2023,’ We The Curious staff posted on social media.

They say: ‘The assessment surveys are still taking place, so we don’t have a reopening date yet – but hope to have some clarity on a reopening timeline later in the summer.’

In the meantime, they will be heading out to every postcode in Bristol with a We The Curious experience.
