Debt and benefits enquiries rocket at Citizens Advice Bureau

The number of people contacting the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has soared, as the recession and finance is affecting huge numbers of people.

CAB is now dealing with 9,300 debt problems and 8,000 new benefit problems every working day in England and Wales.

From the start of May until the end of June 2009, debt problems rocketed by 27 per cent and enquires about benefits leapt by 22 per cent compared to the same time last year.

Jobseeker’s Allowance enquires doubled and redundancy related problems shot up by a massive 74 per cent.
