Build a bedtime routine by Ready For Bed week
The clocks will soon being going back heralding the start of winter and if you are looking for an excuse to stay in bed, Worlds Apart Ready For Bed Week is the perfect answer.
A survey carried out by Worlds Apart found that more than 80 per cent of parents admit their children sometimes go to bed too late.
Unsurprisingly, the survey also found that two thirds of parents wished their children would stay in bed longer in the mornings.
With parents suffering the lack of a bedtime routine, the Ready For Bed Week Running from 25 October until 31 October, is the perfect time to introduce one.
To get started with your bedtime routine, Worlds Apart offer the following suggestions:
Try and build up a routine that leads up to bedtime across an hour, to include bath time, quite play and story time
Make tidying your toys part of the bedtime routine
Switch off the TV / computer games at least half an hour before the bedtime routine begins
Avoid rough and tumble games too close to bedtime
Avoid fizzy/sugary drinks with the tea-time meal
Identify some soothing music that everyone enjoys to play at bedtime so your children quickly understand it’s time for bed
Always make time for a bedtime chat to talk through what has happened during the day
End the routine with a kiss and a cuddle and then leave the room swiftly
Avoid being drawn into further conversation
