Quality time with the other half goes after the baby arrives
Getting the baby versus the relationship balance is not easy, according to findings from Tesco Baby and Toddler Club Expectant Parent Index.
Whilst most believe a baby will bring couples closer together, Tesco’s research shows otherwise.
A staggering eight out of ten parents say they don’t get to spend quality time with their partner since having children.
Arguing over who does what and when causes disputes for 38 per cent of new parents.
A lack of sleep, lack of sex, lack of money are also other major flash points.
“Once baby comes along, parents are too tired to talk about feelings and only seem to talk about facts. And major wars can develop over minor disagreements – who’s going to empty the dishwasher, put the rubbish out or change the baby?” says Tesco Baby & Toddler Club expert, Lorraine Thomas, CEO, The Parent Coaching Academy.
“Finding quality time to be together is vital if they’re going to be the best mum and dad they can be. They’re a team, the engine room for the family. If they can get the balance right and are both feeling relaxed and positive – everyone will benefit.”
