News comment: Noah's Arc Zoo Farm
Noah’s Arc Zoo Farm has hit a few blips this tourist season. Firstly it was condemned by the British Humanist Association, who asked the tourist board to stop promoting the venue due to its fairly low key creationist theory.
Now it has met with animal rights campaigners protesting at the gates this week. Undercover filming by The Captive Animals Protection Society (CAPS) alleges to have discovered a tiger and camel breeding programme between the farm and the Great British Circus. Footage also revealed that a dead tiger was illegally buried on the zoo premises.
There are few farm owners who can turn their property into a major tourist attraction over the course of decade before popping in ten years retrospective planning permission to North Somerset Council.
Having had plans approved for structures in the greenbelt, public footpaths re-routed, it will be interesting to see if owner Anthony Bush and his five-year plan will manage to escape this latest episode unscathed.
