Freddies Funhouse transforms soft play hovel

Any Bristol parent who experienced the horrors of the Alphabet Zoo on Winterstoke Road, Bristol, may well shy away from visiting its new incarnation as Freddies Funhouse.

Parents needn’t fear, what was once the worst soft play area in the world is now under new management and its transformation is amazing.

With a brand new baby and toddler zone, fresh carpet throughout and all of the broken junk toys disposed of, the place is barely recognisable.

The main play frame is still there offering adventurous tots and children opportunities to climb and explore in relative safety. Best of all, parents are allowed to accompany them.

The once disgusting toddler area has been revamped and the broken, dangerous toys gone

There are chairs, tables and the old cinema steps for parents to sit and watch their children.

Steering clear of the usual chicken nuggets and chips nonsense, a fresh menu of pasta, beans on toast, soup and sandwiches are all well priced and freshly made to order.

Older dusty areas forming part of the original cinema can be viewed from higher climbing areas but these are not accessible and don’t detract from the fun to be had.

Freddies Funhouse, though perhaps a little cold in late November, is the perfect place in South Bristol for energetic tots and toddlers to burn off the excess excitement.
