So much for peace and love at Christmastime. A whopping 48 per cent of people lie to get out of spending time with friends and family during the festive period.
Research carried out by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, found that one in four people lie to get out of conflicting Christmas plans.
Avoiding big rows and drunken arguments was the reason behind 20 per cent of lies, whilst two in five lied to avoid boredom.
Illness is a big excuse for getting out of gatherings and thank God for children, for the five per cent who used their offspring as an excuse.
Watch out for the social networking evidence that may catch out liars, as 27 per cent were rumbled this way.
