Bristol shopkeeper fined for tobacco sales to children
A Bristol shopkeeper caught selling cigarettes to youngsters has been fined more than £2000.
Owner of Henleaze Convenience Store Mohammed Aftab Razak, was tried in his absence and fined a total of £1290 for selling tobacco to a minor, failing to display a warning notice regarding its sale to a minor.
Shop worker Mohammed Altab Razaq turned up to court and pleaded guilty. He was fined a total of £205 for one count of selling tobacco to a minor.
The pair were caught out by Bristol City Council’s Trading Standards officers who carried out a series of tests on local shops to clamp down on the illegal sales of tobacco to young people.
