Parents to sign school ‘good behaviour’ contract
Parents will soon be signing a ‘good behaviour’ contract when applying for their child’s school place.
The Government is cracking down on poor behaviour and trying to encourage discipline in schools by making parents back them up.
School policies including rules on behaviour, attendance and the wearing of school uniform will be some of the aspects of school life parents will have to agree to when making their school applications.
Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Schools Diana Johnson said: “Pupils, parents and staff share the responsibility for making sure that bad behaviour does not disrupt learning and that children are able to learn. To do this parents need a clear understanding of their child’s school’s expectations of them and of their child. So by clearly setting out the rules and expectations from the outset, everyone knows what they have to do.”
