Tried and Tested: Disney and Annabel Karmel healthier snacks

Bright, fun with Walt Disney characters and some great tastes and textures, a new range of snacks from Disney and Annabel Karmel will feed a child’s natural sweet tooth as well as keep parents happy with the contents.

Aimed at children from 12 months and upwards, the new range of healthier treats include rice and corn snacks, strawberry and peach flavoured raisins and natural fruit crisps.

These little treats are ideal for popping into children’s nursery and school lunch boxes in place of the villainous crisps and choccie biscuits.

We asked some of our readers to taste test these snacks with their children and to let us know what they thought.

The Apple Fruit Crisps and Banana Fruit Crisps are made from 100 per cent apple or 100 per cent banana and even count towards a portion of your child’s 5-a-day.

Helen Everett and her two-year-old daughter Holly, tested the Apple Fruit Crisps.

Helen says: “The great thing about this product is that it feels like eating crisps but they are sweet and really do taste like the fruit. The apple ones were our favourite. They don’t leave a nasty greasy, fatty mess on your fingers and I really would prefer Holly to eat these to crisps in the future. Because the packaging is similar to a crisp packet, I think I may even get away with it.”

Pam Trevors and her three-year-old son Isaac tested out the peach naturally flavoured raisins. Coming in little bags, the eye catching snack contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and again, counts towards the vital five-a-day.

Pam says: “I despise raisins on every possible level. I just don’t like them, so it was a real ordeal trying this product out. I was actually really surprised to find myself fighting with Isaac to eat them. They didn’t taste like raisins but actually like peach. Plus I am impressed that a little bag will count towards his five-a-day.”

For parents trying and failing to stop their children from eating crisps, the rice and corn snacks  in Tasty Tomato and Cheese & Onion flavours might just help.

Angela Rivers and her 18-month-old-son Kai, taste tested this product.

Angela says: “This delicious snack was a real hit with both adults and children. I shared the packets between my friend and her daughter of the same age and we all agreed how tasty they were. I was expecting them to feel a bit dry like rice cakes, but they weren’t and it is definitely something I would think about buying for days out.”

The range of snacks are available nationwide from Waitrose, Asda and Morrisons
