Half term activities for families

Children will love a visit to Alnwick Castle, famous for being Hogwarts School. Harry Potter’s friends Hagrid and Dumbledore are set to wow crowds during Whison Week with magic and displays of medieval sword fighting will thrill youngsters.

A playweek will be running from 21 – 25 June for families and pre-school children who will be able to sample fresh fruit kebabs, go potting and planting and join in an outdoor art show.

The Time Cheltenham Science Festival 2010 will be taking place at Cheltenham Town Hall from 9 – 13 June.

Packed full of spectacular science and exciting experiments, CBBC presenter Stefan Gates will also be taking part in a wild culinary adventure.

As ever, the Lowry Outlet Mall has a full week of events running to entertain children through the half term holiday. Little Detectives Week is running from May 29 until June 6. Children can pick up a free magnifying glass and join Inspector Clouseau in his quest to solve the Mall’s Whodunnit Mystery on the Monday. Craft workshops, detective themed face painting and pantomime fun with the Comedy Keystone Kops are some of the highlights for children to enjoy through the week.

A new stage adaptation of Bob, the Man on the Moon will be performed at the Tobacco Factory’s Brewery Theatre this half term.

Suitable for children aged three and above and their families, the show will run from 2 – 6 June at 11am and 2.30pm.
