Bristol schools upping their places next academic year

 
Schools across Bristol will be upping the number of places available to children this September in a bid to stop a repetition of the annual school places crisis in the city.

Schools who have upped their intake include:
Cabot Primary
St Barnabas Primary
Easton Primary
Hannah More Primary
Badocks Wood Primary
Filton Avenue Infants
Horfield Primary
Little Mead Primary
Westbury-on-Trym Primary
Christ Church Primary
Stoke Bishop Primary
Ashton Vale Primary
Headley Park Primary

Six other schools in the city will also be getting 22 new classrooms over the coming weeks.

The council are hoping to create an extra 355 places for reception age children with the action.

Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Councillor Clare Campion-Smith, said: “We know demand is going to continue, which is why we are currently meeting head teachers to help inform a school organisation plan to address long-term needs for school places in the city.”

Schools taking delivery of the modular buildings are:

Barton Hill – two storey, four classrooms
Glenfrome Primary – two storey, four classrooms
May Park Primary – two storey, four classrooms
May Park Primary – single storey, two classrooms
Millpond Primary – single storey, two classrooms
Stoke Bishop Primary – single storey, four classrooms
Waycroft Primary- single storey, two classrooms
