Opinions sought for family justice system review

A review of the family justice system is due to take place and the  Family Justice Review Panel (FJRP) are urging people to give them their opinions on how to improve upon it.

The FJRP has just been appointed by the Ministry of Justice, who have launched the ‘Call for Evidence’  keen to better protect the children involved and help families work through their disagreements.

The review will look at how to improve upon current mediation including giving grandparents and non-resident parents better access rights and how to support parents and children rather than pitting them against each other.

Chair of the Review Panel, David Norgrove said: “The family justice system is vitally important, attempting to resolve some of the most difficult issues in our society.  I and my Panel colleagues are determined to help create a better system to serve the needs of those who use it.  We are also being challenged to find ways of doing more with less.

“We cannot do this alone.  The launch of this call for evidence today is the start of a dialogue with all those involved in the system – from the children and families who use these services, to the wide range of professionals.
