Parents failing to ensure children get any fruit or veg

Parents are failing to provide their children with reasonable portions of fruit and veg every day, with  nearly one in ten blaming the cost of food for their shortfalls.

A study by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, finds a staggering one in three parents fail to cook their children any vegetables at all and just 18 per cent put any fruit into the school lunch box.

The school lunch box police must be taking a back seat approach to the contents of pupil lunch boxes these days as  14 per cent of parents admit giving their children a chocolate bar as part of the meal every single day.

Though claiming to be unable to afford fruit and veg, 21 per cent manage to afford to feed their children more packets of crisps every week instead of one of their five-a-day.
