Postman Pat delivers the goods with this new DVD
Postman Pat© 2010. Woodland Animations Limited.
Original writer John Cunliffe. Lic. Royal Mail Group plc
Children’s classic animation Postman Pat and his regeneration for today’s youngsters in the form of the Special Delivery Service is pretty much a resounding success.
Still highly watchable for parents who remember the original, Postman Pat doesn’t manage to irritate its viewers in the ways that other popular remade animations have done – third generation remake of Fireman Sam with the squeaky voices anyone?
The series still retains the classic theme tune, faithful cat Jess and Pat now has a plausible family of wife and son.
The upbeat daily life of the Special Delivery Service Pat is in charge of running ensures the escape to the country Pencaster’s mail never fails to make it and all without the merest hint of Pat going postal.
The new double disc DVD out this month includes four Special Delivery Service episodes – A Slippy Ice Cube, Naughty Pumpkin, Super Magnet and A Disco Machine.
The bonus disc includes four Postman Pat episodes – Holiday Hobbies, The Fun Run, Spy Mission and The Noisy Day.
Pat, in charge of delivering mail posted via the Special Delivery Service makes it his personal responsibility to ensure his mail gets to its destination on time. Sometimes this means moving a water tower off of train tracks, carving an ice sculpture or capturing a runaway pony.
There are plenty of DVD extras for those who are so inclined to use them including a game, activity sheets to colour and downloadable wallpapers.
This is a fantastic collection of stories which will delight preschoolers whether they are already Pat fans or this is their first introduction to the work of the Post Office.
Tested by a group of three to four year old boys and girls for Chopsy Baby, the children loved the stories on the DVD, particularly Naughty Pumpkin.
Parents reported back to us that it stimulated several hours of creative role play between themselves and children.
One family have even created their own post office in the living room such was the popularity of Pat.
Postman Pat SDS – ‘A Speedy Delivery’ is available from this August priced £9.99
